I have a Kenmore series 400. 100.2742260 It fills with water and stops. I have the motor and pump assembly out and the motor does not run in the wash cycle but I hear a humming sound from the timer. If i try the spin cycle, the motor hums untill I turn the motor and then it will spin. Any Ideas? I am thinking it it the timer for both issues. Or may it be the motor stater capasitor as well?

In wash cycle, after fill stops, check for 120vac at motor connector between blue wire and white/black wire. At water level switch behind control panel check for 120vac from tan wire to ground. If you have voltage at water level switch tan wire but don't at motor blue wire, timer is bad. Washer has a dry agitate function in normal cycle. Last 2 minutes of wash cycle before drain, agitator will function with no water in tub (for testing purposes).
