I have ordered a replacement valve for my gas cooktop. However I have not been able to remove the broken one yet. From what I have read online I think it is threaded and that brute strength is what is needed to get it out but have no actual info directly about this part of the repair process. Any advice?

Brute strength will not be required for this repair. There is a 5/16" bolt that secures the valve to the manifold. You will need to remove this bolt and then the valve will lift off.
