Hi everyone,

I have a GE washer, Model WJRE5550K2WW that fills and drains, but has stopped agitating or spinning. In the past, I have been able to reset it using the lid method, but no longer.

The tub spins freely, the shaft isn't broken, and the belt is good.

I tested the lid switch and the fuse, both OK. I have 120V between the white/red and the red/black wires on the left-hand plug.

From where I sit, it looks like a new motor is in order. Is there anything else I should check first?

Thanks in advance,
Pat

Are you getting any error codes via the flashing light on the motor? You need to determine if it is the mode shifter, but if no error codes you may end up replacing the motor/inverter on spec. If you order from this site you can return the part if it is not needed or does not fix the problem.

Thanks for the response!
Sorry, forgot to mention that.
No trouble codes - just the normal 1 on, 1 off flashing.
I did buy the motor through this site; hoping for the best!
Will follow up after I install, hopefully Monday.

I ordered a replacement motor at 8:30 pm Thursday, and it arrived Saturday morning. I wasn't expecting it until Monday!

Anyhoo, a quick motor change later (getting the belt back on was the hardest part) and I'm back in business. The washer works as good as new, and more importantly, my wife is happy!

What does it mean if there are no lights flashing on the motor?

There is an in line fuse in the wiring to the right, if it is blown replace it and see if that does not fix the problem.

If it is not blown or this is no fuse (later models might not have one) then check the wiring for a break or lack of continuity. If it is ok you will probably need to replace the motor/inverter assembly. Given the cost think about if you want to replace the machine instead.

I replaced the fuse and now it works great. I don't know why they don't list the fuse in the trouble shooting section.

GE is famous for this. Glad you got it fixed and that it was an easy solution.

Thanks for the update, Happy New Year
