smell gas...have checked/tested the connection at shut off valve also the connection to the range & there is not a leak. When the gas line/valve is open I smell gas, this is w/o trying to light a burner. what else can I check/test & how do I go about it...or just buy a new one ????

Marc,
The best way is to call a local gas company to test it for a leakage. They have a special leak detectors and their service is free.

Make sure they point out to you where the leak is found. The gas company will "red tag" the appliance and shut off the gas at the most convenient valve.
