My whirlpool washer makes a winding/grinding noise on the spin cycle but the drum is not spinning. I did notice a week ago the upper part of the agitator was not working but the bottom portion was. Please help! Single Dad raising 2 boys on his own. I can't afford to call someone out.

For the agitator problem, you probably need to replace the "dogs".

For the no spin, first, check the motor coupler.

Can you post a video to youtube so we can hear/see what's going on in spin mode?
