As tested with an oven thermometer, my oven is heating to 25 degrees below the display setting; e.g., if I set the oven for 450, the display eventually reads 450, but the actual oven temp is only 400.
Is there a way to test and/or adjust the thermostatic controls? Do I need a new temp sensor or is something else wrong? Please advise.

Here are your parts Parts for Jenn-Air SVE47500W Range - AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the operators manual. It shows how to calibrate the oven. Your post is confusing you say that you are 25 degrees low but also say that a 450 setpoint gives a 400 actual which is 50 degrees. Here is a good link on the oven sensor, check out 7, 8, 20 and 21. http://www.applianceaid.com/electric-range-repair-topics.phpCheck that both elements are OK. Most units switch between bake and broil during preheat and also during bake. If one element is not working then you will get a lang preheat. Also during bake the temperature gradient/profile will not be consistent which may be why you get a low reading depending where you put the thermometer. If it is a bad element be sure to unplug or switch off the breaker to the unit before replacing it. On many units the elements have 120 volts on one side of the element even when it is switched off. |

denman, thanks for the reply and that good information. I mis-typed the "400", it should have read 425.
In terms of testing the oven temp, I placed the oven thermometer on the middle rack, where one would most commonly bake something. Then I set the oven temp, let the pre-heat cycle finish, waited an additional 10 minutes to insure that the oven temp stabilized, and then looked through the door glass to get a temp reading. Should I have done something differently?

Denman, thanks! After looking at that temperature adjustment procedure, I have one dumb question. Do I enter the temp differential as a + or a - ???

I would try +10 first and see what happens. |
