started leaking from left corner of door and water pours out all across bottom when I open during cycle..replaced gasket, then checked spray nozzles, checked float switch and it seems to be working. I can hear the water cut off it ...just seems to be putting too much in.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for Whirlpool GU940SCGQ3 DISHWASHER | AppliancePartsPros.com

Check that the unit is level front to back.
Check that the float and overfill switch are OK. It should stop the unit from overfilling.
Check that it is emptying the unit properly. If it does not empty properly then the fill amount is added to what is left. Filling is just a timed event so it does not actually know how much water is going in. The overfill is just a safety device and during normal operation should not open.

If it is emptying correctly, I would replace the valve.
There is also a possibility that the control board is the culprit.
