Hi all,

I've read the sticky post about brake repair/replacement, but I didn't see this specific issue. I ordered a brake liner, brake stator and snubber ring for my washer, after I started to hear a large "screeching" sound at the end of the spin cycle. From what I read, these parts needed to be replaced.

However, after replacing them, the spin cycle no longer spins. The motor runs, the pump empties the tub, but no spin. In fact I can't move the tub by hand at all. If I remove the brake again, I can then spin the tub, no problem -- so I know it's not laundry stuck in between tubs.

Has anyone run across this in their repair? And, what did you do to solve it? Thanks in advance!!!

It sounds like the brakes are not releasing.

Try adjusting or replacing the thrust bearing, this part here.

Part number: AP4009132

thanks for the reply. I thought about replacing that, but the tub doesn't turn even when the pulley and bearing are off of the unit, so it almost seems like I've installed the brake incorrectly somehow, if that's possible?

That is possible, the thrust bearing rides up to release the brakes so first check it thoroughly before you go back in there.
