Tappan oven and broiler won't lite. Burners all work good. Igniter does not glow. I have replaced the igniter. Still no go. I've tried to set the oven temperature and then immediately check the voltage across the igniter. I believe I'm supposed to see 120 volts, but I'm getting nothing. Gas valve and control modules are expensive so I'd like to be sure before I replace either of these. Any ideas how to verify the problem?

Hi.

Open the control panel, turn the bake on and using the multimeter check for 120v between BK and N. Turn the broil on and check between BRL and N.
No voltage - you have a bad control board.
Here are the bad news - it's no longer available.

Post the results.

Simon.

No voltage from bake or broil to neutral. But 120v across both the bake and broil relays. (I guess that just means they are not closing in.)

Having the same problem, same range, same age. In addition, there is no gas coming from the oven burner. Would a bad control board also account for this?

Hi.
The gas is not suppose to come out from the oven burner without the ignitor first glow. Unless you mean top burners.
Please explane the problem in more details.

Thank you.

Simon.
