The back panel of my frost free freezer keeps getting covered with ice so it keeps trying to defrost itself which is making it get warm inside and things are thawing out. Two weeks ago I unplugged it for 2 days, cleaned it up, vacumned everywhere I could reach, then it worked great until yesterday. Now it's doing it again.

The freezer is on the bottom.

Is it defrosting and melting the ice built up on the back but keeps defrosting too long and things in the freezer also melt? This is a defrost thermostat problem.

Is the ice building up and it doesn't melt the ice on the back during defrost cycle? This is a defrost system problem which could be caused by the defrost heater or defrost thermostat or defrost timer(adaptive defrost control).

Post your model number.

If ice cream is getting soft, and ice cube trays aren't freezing up wouldn't that indicate the defrost system is working? I don't get why you think those 3 parts would be bad. Could it be something to do with the doors. I notice when you close the frig door the freezer door slighltly bounces open & shut, and vice versa.

No the ice on the back never seems to totally melt, it is increasing.
