The door latch strike on our 7 year old Frigidaire stackable washer has broken in the door itself. Do you need to take out the broken piece before replacing the strike?

I cannot get your model number to come up. If this is a non US model describe it in some detail and maybe we can figure out what is comparable to it.

The model # is LGH1642DS0. I had O on the end but it is a zero.
