I bought this side by side brand new and its worked flawless until June when the fridge was not cooling at all. I broke down and paid a repair guy to drive 70 miles to my home (Remote location). He claimed the fan in the freezer area failed and replaced it, worked for 5 mins then stoped and so he replaced it again and closed everything up.
Within two days all bottom shelves in fridge were freezing products. The freezer is set at one and fridge at 1 setting lowest possible. I checked dampener door and it opens when fridge turned on and off when turned off.
Any ideas how I can fix this? Repair guy of course refuses to come out to fix it, claims it was not his fault and could not have been identified while he was there.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for 253.55693400 models | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...f/Anderson/240389618.pdfAnd a manual which may be useful. http://appliancedigest.c...ervice-manual-5995352423You have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and this is a very good site for manuals and other info for the appliance repair DIYer. Check the temperature in the freezer. It should be 0 to 5 degrees F. Could be that the thermostat is not regulating the temperature correctly. The fresh food side should be around 40 degrees F but this is also dependent on the freezer temperature. Although I could not confirm this there is usually a vent lower down on the wall between the sections. If there is one check that it is clear on both sides. If not cold air can settle in the bottom of the unit and freeze items. Check that the freezer fan is running. It is required to properly circulate the air inside the unit. |

You might have other problems, measure the freezer temperature and post.
