Washer making grinding noise during the wash cycle. A previous post said to remove the front panel to check for the problem. I can't find a post for front panel removal.

To take the front off press something flat (putty knife) and press in on the clips located between the front and the top. There is a picture on this page that shows what I am talking about.

GE Washer Disassembly Guide

The grinding noise is more than likely what is referred to as the sagging apron issue. Basically the bracket that holds the tub up will bend (or sag) down to the point that the motor bracket hits the bottom of the washer when the tub is full of water. This page talks about this problem.

If you have the sagging apron issue if you complain GE may repair it for free
Or at least send you the part for free.
