i have a GE GSL23WGSBBS, that the ice maker is not working correctly and i am not sure which part or parts need replacing basically there are two problems that I can see. First the ice shoot flap does not always close all the way on its own, stays open about 1/4 inch which I believe is causing the second problem of a significant amount ice build up / frost on the main interior part from where it falls down through the shoot. Right where the metal teeth are for crushing it. From here the only ice dispensed is crushed. I can not say with certainty that the door staying open is causing the problem because after defrosting the ice container, and not using the ice dispenser and ensuring that the door has been closed, it still freezes over. Perhaps its not a tight enough seal? When it was under warranty they pretty much replaced the entire section and it worked for about 2 years, now the problem has returned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

just in case someone needs this info it turns out it was the solenoid behind the panel. i replaced that and the spring for about $45 total and all seems fine. Apparently a lot of ge fridges have a problem of moisture and condensation build up which caused the old solenoid to rust and not move up and down correctly.
