Recently my daughter used the self cleaning feature of the oven. After that the bake element is not working, but everything else functions as should. I replace the lower element without testing thinking it was a simple fix but didn't solve the problem. So I tried something logical since the broil feature worked. Now here is where it puzzles me. When I reversed the leads on the back of the control panel the bake and broil elements will function but in reverse. Another words when I press bake the broiler comes on, and when I press broil the bake element works. So then I replaced the wires to there proper locations and broil works again, but not bake. Is this related to the thermostat or control panel. I think I correct in the asumption that if the thermostat was bad neither would work. But what I don't understand is why when reversed they do work.

That is correct. You need to replace the clock control. The part # is 316222907. Tom Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts
