Lightning struck our house and fried a lot of things. We thought the oven and stove survived but we were only half right. The stovetop works fine but the oven will not maintain an even temperature. Most food burns and some food catches fire on edges while middle still cool to the touch. The top element gets red hot but the bottom element doesn't seem to get very hot at all. After a while we get an F2 error message. This is an old stove and I haven't had any luck translating this error message. Any thoughts?

The 911 at the start of your model number says that the unit is a Roper and is made by GE. So then I looked up GE error codes and F@ is that the unit has overheated past 500 degrees.
Unfortunately that sounds like your control board/clock is shot.
I then looked up the board (WB27K5193) on the Sears parts site they did not show a price. So I then looked it up on AppliancePartsPros, it is $260.12. But one is Out Of STOCK and the other is Requires Special Attention. This usually translates to obsolete.
There are companies out there that will repair obsolete appliance timers so there is a possibility that you could get it repaired.
Due to the age of the unit it is probably best to buy a new stove. |
