Hi, I have a Thermador PGR304ZS oven range that is about 2004-5 vintage. My problem is on the side of the stove that has the normal burners, not the XLO simmer ones. When I turn on either burner on that side, both igniters spark and then only the burner that was turned on stops sparking after it is lit. The other burner keeps sparking until the lit burner is turned off. It does not matter which of the two burners that I light, the other continues to spark until the lit burner is turned off. If I light both, then both igniters turn of correctly. I changed out the igniter module, but that had no effect. I also changed out the microswitches on the knobs and that had no effect.
Thanks

Hi Mark,

The problem can be a bad ceramic part of the burner igniter, a broken igniter wire insulation or a bad burner grounding.

The following article on our forum will explain in detail how a reignition system works - http://forum.appliancepartspros...-range-professional.html

Thanks Gene,

I read the thread and did everything in there except replace the wires. I polished the burner components and got good continuity to ground. I replaced the two igniters, I checked both wires, the wires and insulation look very good, and tested for resistance and everything came up fine. I don't know what else to try.

Thanks

Mark,

Sounds like the ignition (spark) module you replaced is defective. It has to be exchanged due to the parts warranty by the people who sold it to you.

- The spark module Part number: AP2825261
Part number: AP2825261

The manufacturer part number is 189024.
