Wodering if antone knows of a common problem with this machine? I changed the belts and ran it thru a complete cycle it did fine until it got to the spin cycle. Then it locked up and the belts started to smoke bad. Wonderin if the tranny may be toast? Or if someone has ran into this before. In this economy Im trying to fix versus replace. Thanks for your help.

I would remove the top cover of the tub and check for something stuck in there. If ok, your brakes failed to release. If you turn the tranny pulley in the spin direction and it locks up, you probably need to change the thrust washers and the pulley. Go to www.applianceaid for info on this.
