Whirlpool Washer Model LA7780XSN2 Stock LA7780S

The mover part of the agitator is loose/wobbly and doesn't fully agitate unless I hold it down by pressing on the cap. The base seems to be working just fine - it's just the mover.

On the inside of the mover, I see teeth at about the height of the top of the center column, but the teeth aren't connected to anything. There are 4 pointed "wings" coming off of the center column, but there is an equally sized gap between each of them and the teeth of the mover. Are the teeth on the inside of the mover supposed to be connected to something?

Thank you, in advance, for your help!

p.s. I have attached a picture showing the situation with the teeth that I mentioned above.

It turns out that the agitator dogs were pretty much gone.

For those who don't know, the agitator dogs are what connect with the teeth that you see in the picture on the inside of the upper agitator.

What helped me really get this done was the following video which someone posted showing how to replace them:

YouTube - Broken Whirlpool/Kenmore Washing Machine Agitator Fix

It was a pretty easy and very cheap fix. We now have a washer which works again! (Whirlpool said it is something like 18 years old)

Praise God!
