Just got an estimate to replace my ice maker control board for $280. Is this a good price? Is this something that is easily replaced by an amateur? Please help.

It says kenmore but the repair guy said it's actually a whirlpool. The model number is 106.52693100. Thx.

If you are talking about the two optic PC boards (emitter & receiver) on both sides in the freezer, this is not too difficult to replace them yourself if you know how to handle a simple tools. The PC board kit will cost you just $86.23, so you can save almost $200.

- The PC board kit Part number: AP3137510
Part number: AP3137510

Thanks! Miraculously it started to work again after not working for 3 days. Maybe it can make ice anyway without the computer board. I hope.

If it would not work again, post the complete description on the problem.

Gene.

P.S. In such situation it's better to start a new thread.
