When I turn on the oven it used to start in Bake at 375. Now it starts in broil at 500 and the bake option won't work.\

Any ideas? This is a Whirlpool electronic controlled oven.

I also have a Whirlpool Oven Model RBS305PD that will broil and not bake. I have replaced the microcomputer and this did not fix the problem.

I also would appreciate help.

Hi Ruth Ann

I need you to provide more specific description on what is going on with your oven when you try to use Bake mode. Also the model number you posted is not complete. It suppose to be something else after "D".

Gene.

Gene,

The model is RBS305PDand either 86 or B6. When I turn the oven on it automatically goes to the broil mode. When I press the bake button it just stays in broil. It will not bake at all, but it will broil just fine.

Most likely the problem with your oven is a stuck broil pad on the key pad. In order to fix it the control panel has to be replaced.

- The part number for the white control panel AP2929132

- The part number for the black control panel AP2929131

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool oven Model RBS305PDB6

Gene,

Thank you for your advise. I decided to go ahead and purchase a new oven. Given that the part is half the price of the new oven I feel I made a good choice.

Usually such decision should be based on the age and condition of the product. If it's still good and you like it, it might be worth to fix it.

Good luck with the new one.

My suggestion is to find a deep hole and drop it in. :)

I've worked on a couple of these in the past. I would describe them as a poor design. That whole thermal fuse thing is a really bad joke. It sounds like yours has been a pain in your rear for a long time. It also sounds like your electronic control is failing. I'd bet $100 its not available 17 years after manufacture.
