Is this a gas type dryer ? Has there been any work done on it recently and what type ? What is temperature of the air coming out of the vent tube ?

If this is a gas type dryer and has been worked on to possibly change the orifice in the gas valve ? If the orifice has been changed or you have switched to propane from Natural gas the unit will run hotter. The natural gas orifice is large as compared to the Propane fuel orifice. There is a chart available on google to show the orifice size for the different fuels.
