Was thanked: 4 time(s) in 4 post(s)
There is no warranty on any part in your refrigerator. One of possibilities for a such noise is the defrost timer which located in this area.

How often does it click?

Here are the break down diagrams for the GE refrigerator Model TFX22PPBGWW

Hi abadfish, I'm having similar issues, my evaporator fan is not turning on anymore, and thought that I'd just replace the motor by myself, but $130 later, still no working fan. I first noticed this when the sides of my fridge got really hot, and it didn't seem to be cooling as well as it used to.

Can you please let me know if my fridge will be covered under the warranty if my main board is bad?

Model GDS20SBSBSS
Serial # ZL048186

I really appreciate it!!!

samfridge, your fridge is not covered. Pull the refer out from the wall, remove the lower access cover and see if your condensor fan is running

Thanks for the quick reply!

I used the wrong term in my past post, I meant to say that it was my condensor fan that wasn't running (not my evap motor).

I'll try to do a quick run down...
- A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the sides of my fridge were HOT, could barely keep my hand on it

- Pulled fridge out and noticed the condensor fan wasn't running... I'm not an applicance tech (actually am an electrical engineer though), but logic tells me that while the condensor is running, and there's a fan next to the coils, the fan *should* be running to keep things cool, especially when the condensor is on.

- I probed the main board, and the connector by the condensor fan, and noticed that I was getting a solid 13VDC across the Red/White wires, and also the Pink/White wires. At that time I had *assumed* that the condensor motor was the problem.

- Rigged up a high flow PC fan (for a quick fix), while I ordered a replacement motor (WR84X10055)

- Received new motor, plugged it in, and no go, doesn't turn on, it doesnt' matter whether or not the compressor is running.

I'm guessing now that I have to buy the new motherboard replacement (WR55X10552) to replace my defective board (WR55X10416)?

I guess another question is, what's wrong with these boards/parts that GE has been putting in their refrigerators? I've owned this unit for 1.5 years, and was surprised that it's already giving me problems, I guess they really don't make them like they used to?? I appreciate all the help though, it's good, yet sad to know people are experiencing the same problems.

I also have the clicking noises from the back of my GE Refrigerator (GE PDS22MISACC) it is coming from the Main Control Board Assembly. The Refrigerator/freezer were warm this morning. luckily we did not lose to much food (dinner tonite is whatever that is thawed...) My thought is the Main Control Board Assembly is bad and need to be replaced. Called GE and they had no problem setting up a service call ($74.95) and told me it was out of warranty. But I was checking online to is if I could find the part locally when I came across this and one other site that stated that GE knows about this problem and was replacing them for free. So I called back to the service dept and parts dept and was told they did not know about it and that I should call GE customer relation dept. When I talked to her she wanted to know if it had been determined that the MB was bad. When I told her that the service appointment was on Monday she said if it is the MB that is the problem it will be replaced for free - both parts and labor.
To think I was going to buy the part ($157.61) and install it myself because the GE parts dept said it was not covered. I will post how it go's on Monday

** here it is Monday morning waiting for the appointed time (sometime between 8 am and noon). The tech shows up at 11:45 (wish they would call and let you know how their day is running - I have been in sales - it is not that hard) . he comes in with the board and before even pulling the frig away from the says the board is the problem and that it would be $100.00. asked why and he said it is over 3 years old. I told him we need to call customer relation dept. because she had all of the info (sale date) and had said it is listed as free replacement. Sooo he right away says he will install it for free because he does not want to deal with the customer Relation dept.... I cant prove it but it made me wonder how many pay when they don't have to.

new MB WR55X10552
