Hello,

I have a Whirlpool gas oven. For, literally a couple years now, my oven can be fickle. The problem is... I hit BAKE, turn it to 350 degress and it will heat up. Sometimes, when it should "kick on" again to maintain the desired temperature... the red light will come on, but... the heat does not kick in/go on. I can go months with it working just fine, then... it won't work. Sometimes it won't kick in/ignite from the beginning. The key is... when the red light goes on... it is supposed to be heating, but... sometimes it does & sometimes it doesn't. The most recent time it didn't work... I closed the oven door a little forcefully and... it kicked right on. UGH !

Anyway... any thoughts as to what the problem likely is with my fickle oven (i.e. the inginitor, etc...) ???

Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.

Joe

Joe,

In order to provide most accurate advice we need the complete model number of the oven. The Model Number Locator can help you to find it.

Gene,

OK... I'll get the Model # this weekend. I was hoping that the problem, although intermittent, is very consisstent in what is is doing (or not doing) as far as not reheating/reigniting at times when it should/the red light indicates is supposed to.

Thank you.

Joe

The model number you posted is incomplete. It suppose to be one more number after "W" which is very important. Verify and repost it please.

Gene,

Sorry about that. It's a "5".

Joe,

Very likely the cause of the problem is improper Bake burner lighting holes. You can find more useful information in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...e-will-not-stay-lit.html

- The Bake burner assembly Part number: AP3598752
