Did I totally screw myself? My current washer, Amanda unknown model/year stopped aggitating and spinning. I tried new belt, and checked lid switch and other electrical components. It apprears it is just the gear assembly so I went and got a used one from a guy nearby who repairs them. 30 day money back guarantee. And he said if its within a year or so- he will take care of it. IF it dies in like 3 years, he will repair it for the cost of the parts.
So its a 3.8 cu ft washer over 10 years old. My wife is freaking out when I told her it was 5 or 6 years old. Little does she know...
Anyway- I paid $200 for this repaired washer with a decent backing from a guy with 25 years in the business. I picked it up from his shop at his home. Its not a fly by night operation. Its all her does.
I am just woindering if I would have been better off spending the $475 plus tax plus possible warrenty for a GE front loader high effieicency with all kinds of electronics. I hear they are hit or miss with repairs and life of the product. If I had more time, I coulda did more shopping around and maybe even found a free replacement locally.
Any thoughts?
