Black spots which can't be removed are appearing on clothes after washing. Will replacing the centerpost gasket fix this, or is there something else wrong? I can't find parts for LA7680XSNO, but can for LA7680XSWO. Are their parts interchangable?

Pull off the agitator (7/16 bolt below the top) and check for a bad tranny spidle seal.

I have removed the agitator and tub. Looking down at the centerpost, there are two shafts, one within the other. The longer innermost one is splined. Both have seals and the splined one is leaking grease. Can these seals be replaced by digging them out and pressing in new ones, or do they need to be disassembled.

I would pull the tranny, dig out the old spindle seal and replace it. Add some silicone grease, part #AP3132857

I have replaced the centerpost gasket, the transmission shaft seal and applied silicone grease and have been using the washer for about 2 1/2 months now. I am still getting black spots on my clothes. There appears to be only one seal left which is the shaft seal for the top of the basket drive tube shaft (AP3043573). Do you think that will fix my problem or do I need to buy a new washer - my wife is getting impatient because her clothes are being ruined. Any other advise?

Clean all the grease off the agitator. Also, you may need to pull the spin tube and install a new seal.
