Chuck,

That "infrared eye" should stay on. If it's blinking then the optic boards have to be replaced.

Part number: AP3137510

I checked the infrared eye and it blinks with the door on the left closed (blinks twice then a delay and then blinks twice again, etc). The infrared light goes out if you close the door on the left and also push the switch on the top of the freezer that turns the frezzer light off. Any suggestions as what needs to be replaced?

I threw out all the ice and cleaned the ice container. Let it stand overnight. Turned freezer setting to 5. This morning everything worked - making ice and dispensing! Makes no sense but it's working today. I'll watch it carefully

Chuck,

Make sure the ice maker "on-off" switch on the right side is "on". Push in the flopper door on the left side and watch the LED. Normally it should stay "on". If it's blinking and the lenses are clean then the optics is bad. Post the results.

First the ice maker didn't work. Repair guy took everything apart and said it was the motor. He left, then after a few hours it started making ice again so it wasn't the motor(?). Now the ice auger which drives the ice into the in-door ice made noise, but didn't expel any ice. Thought it was frozen so emptied ice, dried container out, and waited until there was more ice in it. Still doesn't work but sounds like it's trying to. "Ticks" for a while after trying. I give up. Any ideas??

Gene

I replaced the icemaker and so far no ice after 36 hours. The new ice maker will not even fill with water. Is iot possible that the electronic eye is no good or is something else completely. What are the correct indications that the infrared eye is working correctly.

Chuck

There can be a few different problems with the ice maker and due to very low success rate on ice makers repairs I would recommend to replace the whole ice maker.

Gene: I have a similar problem with a Frigidaire ice maker. It makes ice, but the ice does not dispense. I replaced a plastic gear (it was cracked), but it still does not dispense ice. Do I need to replace the entire icemaker. If so, what is the part number for the icemaker? My refrigerator model no. is FRT8IB5EW2.
Thanks for your help.
