In order to provide the most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the unit and more specific description of the problem.

Post it as a new thread, please.

I'm glad you were able to fix it.

Happy holidays!

New igniter installed and the thing works!
Thanks again for the tips.

A flat igniter can be interchange with a flat igniter only. Also the length of the ceramic part is important.

Thanks for the quick response.
After some searching around I had a feeling it might be the igniter. Hopefully I can find one locally tommorow.
Are they usually brand specific or are they a common part that is interchangable between many ovens?

Most likely the problem with your oven is a bad igniter (#218 on the #4 break down diagram).

- The part number for the oven igniter is AP2020569

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Hotpoint range Model RGB508ET4WH

Good luck.

I'm having a similar issue with a Hotpoint model# RGB508ET4WH. The stovetop burners work but when I turn on the over it does not light, I do not hear or smell gas either. Does not appear to have a pilot light.
Any help would be appreciated, I would like to have a baked potato with dinner tommorow.

Hi kenjg

Unfortunately all of the parts for the lower oven ignition system are no longer available.
