Thanks Taxed, Looks like we'll need a multi meter and, to separate the door. We'll need to check for voltage to the dispenser assembly,wiring,to determine wether we have a bad timer or wiring problem. While it's apart, we can check the door hinges and frame for loose, damaged, components, causing the door not to close properly. :) :) :)

On the lip of the tub , under the latch, you will find a 5/16" bolt, loosen the bolt and tap the catch assembly back (a little at a time) until there's a tight fit. You would also need to check the lower spray arm, You need to check to make sure the seam has not split, there is no deposits or debris in the openings on the end and bottom of the arm, and that the lower spray assembly moves freely. I don't think you have anything major wrong, just age , and basic wear and tear. Have an older portable (convertible) Maytag dishwasher. Two problems--leaks at bottom of the door (suspect its a door seal) and rinse and soap aid dispenser won't open during cycle. The door will open very fast when the clip is bumped and it takes a little tension to close it (so it may not be the spring) any advice what it could be? Its an older dishwasher so I don't want to put a lot of $$ into it, but at the same time--if a simple repair will give me a "new" washer . . . Thanks
