After setting desired temp (350) and pushing start, the 6 tones sound immediately to indicate the temp has been reached and it will not bake. Is this
caused by a faulty temp sensor?

Hello Tony,

Its either that or the control board. If you have a good meter you can test the sensor using an ohmmeter. Most have a resistance between 1100-2700 ohms

You might try the sensor. As far as the board it has been discontinued from the manufacturer.

Thank you for the good response. My oven is a wall unit - is there a way to get to the sensor leads w/o taking the whole oven unit out of the wall? How do you remove the control faceplate to get to the control board?

**Disconnect power before servicing**

You can remove the sensor from the inner cavity by unscrewing it from the inner back wall. As you pull it take care not to pull to hard or to far until you get a hold of the quick disconnect plug. Secure the connector so it doesnt fall back into the wall.

The replacement usually has the same plug but in some cases you have to splice the wires using wire nuts.

As far as getting access to the control board you will have to refer to the breakdown. If you need a breakdown use our live chat feature during call center hours 7am-6pm PST Mon-Fri

Usually you start by removing the control panel frame.

I got the temp sensor out to about where the leads leave the sensor but it will
not come out any further. I don't want to pull any harder and break it. The hole
in the back wall of the stove is only slightly larger diameter than the sensor and
any connector would have to very small to get through it.
I guess my only other option is to pull the whole oven out of the wall, but it's not obvious how to get it out. Any suggestions?? There's a microwave on top.

All I have to go on is the parts breakdown so if it wont come out you may have to pull it out the whole unit or test it at the control board where the wires from the sensor attach to.

As far as giving you more in detail or assisting you further would require me to see it in person.

I got to the control board and the temp sensor measured 1100 ohms
(normal). I guess I need a control board-but GE says they are no longer available also.
Are there any other sources of parts anywhere that I might find one? Do you know
anyone that could test and repair the board? There are two 1/8 in. dark spots on the LED module that are the only signs of a possible problem,but the LED's
seem to work OK when entering bake info.
Finally does anyone know what the function is of a 4 to 5 in. rod that protrudes from the back wall of the oven just 2 in. left of the temp sensor?
It looks like it may be another sensor -possible safety switch??
