My door glass is cracked, though remains in place. The layout of this design is at

However, from that image, it is unclear exactly which piece is the glass. I'm guessing it is #2, which sells for astronomical prices.

Can I just go to a glass cutter and get a new piece of glass cut to that size? Do I need any special kind of glass for this? (It is my understanding that the metal screen in the door does all of the radiation blocking, not the glass... correct?)
