I had an old dryer that the heating element went out and I was given another dryer and when we hooked it up had to use the electric cord from my original dryer so it would fit the outlet I already had and it did not heat. Have just been given another dryer by neighbor and the same thing, was working fine next door and changed the electric cord and now it does not heat?? Is the electric cord the problem? The dryer comes on and runs fine, just will not heat.

Here is the wiring diagram http://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%208528187.pdfSounds like you are not getting L2 which is required to have heat Yes it could be the line cord. Unplug the unit and check the wires in the cord with a meter for continuity. Another possible problem is at the plug. Try switching the power off/on slowly. If this does nothing measure it with a meter L1 to L2 240 volts AC L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral should both be 120 volts AC Be careful 240 volts is lethal. |
