Dryer won't start. Checked all the fuses - all have continuity. Checked for burned wires - they all look OK. Checked door switch - continuity checks out OK. That brings me to the start switch. I'm told that this NEVER is the problem. I do not get continuity when I push the button but I get 120V through all posts. What am I missing?

Hi.

Check the motor relay coil (2 pink/white wires) located in the control panel is getting 48VDC and if the relay contacts (2 blue wires) are closed when you push the start button.

The motor relay Part number: 3405281
Part number: 3405281

Thank you. Post the results.

Simon.

Simon,

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, I indicated the wrong model number for the Maytag dryer... it is not MED5920TQ0 as I stated, it is MED5620TQ0 and there is no motor relay coil as you described in the control panel. However, after checking everything and cleaning out a lot of lint from everywhere, I got it to run. It doesn't start every time i push the start button and at first it only ran on timed dry, not on auto dry or fluff but after trying it a number of times at each setting, they all started to work. I can hear the timer clicking away on all settings except auto dry. So, I don't know if it's the timer or the start switch... any ideas?

Hi.

It's very hard to diagnose the problem remotely when the dryer is working. But I would bet on the timer. You can get both of the parts and return the unused one.(Even if it been installed.)

The timer Part number: 3979617
Part number: 3979617

The start switch Part number: W10117655
Part number: W10117655

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Maytag MED5620TQ0 29" ELECTRIC DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com

Good luck. Post the results.

Simon.

PS. You should have the continuity at the start switch Blue to Blue when pushed.
At the timer contacts T -W and BK - BU closed.
