I need to replace the belt, but am having trouble getting to it. What do I need to take apart to do this?

George,

You'll need to remove the front panel and top to access the drive system.

*** Unplug the power cord or turn power off to the machine ***

Remove the lint filter, then remove the two screws holding the filter guide to the top of the unit.

With a stiff putty knife(or similar tool) you'll need to press in on the spring clips, located approximately 2 inches in from the side panels, in the seam between the top and front panel, and lift the top up(you'll need to prop it up with something or slide the dryer out a few inches so you can lift it all the way back and prop it against the wall.

On the inner front panel, approximately 3 inches down, you'll find two 1/4 inch screws(one on each side)remove the screws and pull out on the top of the panel, a little bit at first, and remove the wires from the door switch, then pull the panel out and lift up, to remove the front panel.

You'll find the motor and the idler pulley, and probably the belt, located in the right front corner of the base of the machine.

When you reverse the procedure, since the drum has shifted down in the front, you will have to lift it up, back into position, when you re install the front panel.

No big deal, I'm sure you can handle it.

:) :) :)

Here's a parts breakdown diagram of the cabinet. Using a small-bladed screwdriver, depress the top lock clips (Part #20). to release the top. It will swing up, exposing the tumbler and belt. You will then see the two screws (Part #4) that hold the ront panel. The panel will then lift off the panel holding clips (Part #29). Be careful to disconnect the wires to the door switch, and re connect them when re-assembling the dryer.
