Model Number: MDE3500AYW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
I found a burnt wire end approx 1.5 " at the heater element connection. It broke off the connector. It was the wire from the motor. I repaired the wire end but am concerned about any melted wire. Looking at the heater element while running it does not glow entirely, some part of it seem black/grey. Is there a resistance value I need to check for and how do I find that information? Should I be checking the thermostat at the element and what do I look for? A wire shouldn't burn because of age should it?
