Model Number: 110.86692120 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
I can't get my dryer to start. For a long time, I could "jiggle" the timer knob, and it would run. Now that doesn't work either. I have removed the timer, cleaned the interior contacts with electrical cleaner, and still nothing. When I push start, there is power to the timer, am I looking at replacing the timer? or is there something else to check first? any Ideas?
Thank You, Laundrydad |

Is there power coming out of the timer? Timer part # AP3116038.

I', not sure - I checked "across" from the red wire terminal to the brown and white/blue terminals and show power - but without a schematic I wasn't sure what I was checking except for the existance of power to possibly eliminate the door switch as the problem

There should have been a schematic inside the control panel usually in a little envelope.
Remove the rear panel and test the thermal fuse. Also check the door switch. nat

I've checked the door switch and thermal fuse, both ok. Could it be the motor? if so how do I get the front panel off to check it? The top has two xmas trees that pop up, the top of the front panels has 2 screws, it seems like the bottom has 2 screws but no access to get to them. I turned the machine on its side, and the bottom appears to be a bent portion of the continuous stamping for the sides. If not the motor, I'm down to the circut board and the timer.

After you have the top up, remove those two screws and you should be able to lift the front panel a little and pull it off. You can then remove the drum out of your way to access the motor. You will problaby want to check the entire harness. We had one last week doing the same thing and it turned out to be a loose connection in the harnes at the motor plug.
Nat This is the closest wiring diagram I could find.
