Hi,
After attempting a reset with the breaker and check the drain hose for plugs, I can't seem to get the dishwasher to drain and finish a cycle.
I have been reading some posts of other dishwashers as well as going through the parts list with the q and a to no avail. However, I did see a post that led me to believe that the drain pump may be the problem. The symptoms are: once dishwasher goes into rinsing mode, heat element turns on, melting plastic smell, no other motor sounds, and then counts down to zero with no other modes completed.
Could it be the drain pump frying and not draining or is something else the big problem?
Thanks,
Tom

Could be but I doubt it.

You would have to check for 120 volts across the drain pump.
If it has the correct voltage but does not pump out then it is the drain pump.

Not quite sure I understand the above.
You have to find out what is overheating.
Is this in rinse only mode or is it the final rinse?
Does the unit ever pump out?

Sounds more like a control board problem.

Thanks. I am going to pull it out today and hopefully find only a pump that is fried. I believe that the dishwasher never went into any other mode beyond washing and cannot drain due to the pump malfunction. So, there is no rinse or drain mode. It simply stops and does not drain.
