Whirlpool wsf26c3exf01 fridge over cooling and water dispenser works intermittently

Brand: whirlpool
Model Number: wsf26c3exf01
Main Symptom: 1. fridge side is freezing liquid and berries are icy/slightly frozen; 2. water dispenser works sometimes for an hour or two and then doesn’t for a few hours
What happens & when: ice tea in a pitcher in the fridge partly freezes, and berries are icy or partly freezing.

the water dispenser first didn’t work about 1.5-2 years ago. I treated it like ice in the line and turned the temps up a degree or two. resolved the issue for months. this year the issue is back and I tried inserting a tube and running warm water to melt any stuck ice, but that only worked once, so I stopped trying it. now it works for an hour or two and then doesn’t for a few hours, and this happens everyday now with no real pattern.

Error Code (if any): none
Parts or tests already tried: I increased the freezer and fridge zone temps to at least a few degrees above default on the freezer and to max on the fridge zone.

I followed the diag steps outlined in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb4WauhlXDM - and test 1 and test 2 show “01” (freezer thermistor and fridge thermistor I believe) and then test 3 is supposed to test the air baffle according to the video. it switches from “01” (open) to “02” (closed), so you should feel air moving in the fridge and then not. The air flow DID NOT cut off when it switched to “02”, so perhaps this is conclusive of at least one problem???

If the air baffle is failing to function properly, could this cause both symptoms I’m experiencing?

The damper not closing could be the complete issue. ensure it is operating (closing and opening). I am attaching the tech sheet with some test points.

Does this require a volt meter or something similar to test?

If so, is there any other way to test? Or have you seen a video on how to do this?

And is this worth fixing or will it cost 1/3 to 1/2 of a new fridge to do so?

Thanks again!

You will need a multimeter to test it. Is it worth repairing is a personal preference.

If the problem is the air baffle or the damper not closing, what part or parts would I need? And are there instructions for installing them?

Thank you for all the help!

The damper control and diffuser.

Sorry for the confusion, the damper that the manufacturer recommends for your model is W11177624. This part is compatible with your model[WSF26C3EXF01]

No worries, there was no confusion. That is the part you provided earlier. I was just asking how w10814173 differs from the other parts you suggested because I saw w10814173 suggested and stated as compatible on a different site.

Should I replace the damper control and diffuser at the same time or start with one and see if the problem is resolved?

I think I could do this myself, but I’m looking for a video or instructions that show something closer to my actually refrigerator model. The video provided earlier is quite a bit different from mine.

thanks!
