Whirlpool WRS588FIHZ00 water dispenser running without prompt

WRS588FIHZ00. Water is automatically dispensed from the measured fill function without prompt from user. Replaced main display and water dispenser pad issue persists.

If it seems like the icemaker is filling with water when you call for water at the dispenser as well then you will need to replace the wiring harness W11700341 in the compressor compartment, if it only seems to be a problem with the water dispenser then you should replace the dual water valve WPW10341320 in that same area.

There is a diode pack built into that harness, if it goes bad then the icemaker will fill when the water dispenser is activated and the water dispenser will activate when the icemaker fills. If it is only affecting the water dispenser then you have a bad water valve.

Thanks no water in the ice maker. Intermitten issue with measured fill function dispensing water automatically without input from user.

Ok, I’d replace that valve then. It can seem like this is a measured fill issue, but because the valve is getting weak it is activating when the icemaker fills due to how these are set up.

The display switches to the measure fill mode and counts down when dispensing water without input.

Ah, in that case I would suspect an issue with the main control board W10887254.
