Whirlpool Washer LSR8244EQ0 - Agitator does not turn during Delicate cycle with APP replacement motor

Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSR8244EQ0
Main Symptom: Agitator (motor) does not turn during Delicate wash cycle with AppPartsPros replacement motor.
What happens & when: After water fill, machine just stops - no agitator action.

Error Code (if any): none
Parts or tests already tried: Works OK (mostly) during “Normal” wash cycle. Normally, after main washing, machine goes into ‘delicate’ mode (agitator turns slowly). With APP replacement motor, no agitator action until end of that part of the cycle. Then machine picks up from there. With Delicate cycle, no agitator action at all. Connected original motor and motor spins during Delicate wash. Expect motor is not the correct part, as there is a wire missing on replacement motor. APP website picture shows this wire (purple near top of connector -see photo on link) which is on the original motor, but not on the replacement motor..

Check to see if there is power to the motor when the motor is supposed to run during the delicate cycle. If there is no power then this will be a faulty timer.

How/where do I check this?

It is NOT the timer because the original motor runs during that cycle.

Check for 120 vac from the violet wire to the white black wire on the motor.

On the NEW APP replacement motor, THERE IS NO PURPLE WIRE - no terminal on the terminal block on the motor itself - just a blank position for a wire/terminal. If you are talking about the original motor, I don’t understand why I would need to do this, as it does work, so there must be 120V present. Also, the original motor does work, so again, there must be 120V present (from the timer?).

If there is power present then it sounds like the motor may be faulty.

OK….?? Is the motor faulty if there is a wire missing on the motor itself - as shipped from APP? It appears that you have confirmed my original assertion - that this motor is not the correct motor for this machine - as you directed me to check the voltage on the purple wire - which is not present.

What is my next step to getting this resolved. Thx.

According to the tech sheet there should be a violet wire. If there is not then check from the Orange wire to the white/black wire.

There is no orange wire.

Maybe this will help…

Original motor connector wiring:

Blk | Purple | Wht w/blk stripe | Blue | Yellow | empty| Wht

APP replacement motor:

Blk | empty | Wht w/blk stripe | Blue | Yellow | empty | Wht

Looking at the pump end of the motor shaft.

BTW: There is no terminal in the connector / harness for the Blk wire.

What is the next step to getting this resolved? Does APP have the correct motor?

I thought it might help if I could post an image of the new motor delivered by APP. This image shows both the electrical connector with the colored wires, and the part number at the top (it’s a little difficult to read, but if you enlarge it, you can see the number):

Part number: W10153111.

Both the APP web page and the Whirlpool web page for the motor for this machine shows the motor part number as: 3951550.

So this would tend to indicate that the motor delivered by APP is NOT the correct motor for this washing machine.

What’s the next step to get this resolved?

Thx for your help.

Sorry forgot to attach the image.

Yeah, that’s the wrong motor for sure. That one fits the whirlpool dryer or kenmore that has 4 drum rollers!
