Hi Jeff! Thanks for the response. What door switches should i be checking? The fridge was closed all night and my daughter woke up to the fridge chiming this morning. Any further help is appreciated. Thank you,

I would check all of them especially the fresh food section

I’ve checked the “switches” that indicate door closure and they are fine. Plugged it back in and there was no chiming and as soon as I opened the refrigerator door it started to chime again. The main control board has been replaced. I’ve emptied the fridge and checked all the drawers and seals and everything is fine. What else is there to do?

Here is what i found after some research . If you have continuously flashing user interface, interior LED lights, and constant chime on this Whirlpool platform almost always points to a problem with the refrigerator’s low-voltage DC power supply rather than the cooling system itself. The chime is occurring because the main control is repeatedly rebooting, causing the user interface to lose communication and restart.

Most likely causes (in order)

  1. Failed LED module shorting the LED power circuit (Most Common)

    • On this Whirlpool platform, a single shorted LED module can pull down the DC voltage supplying all of the interior lights and cause the control to repeatedly reset.

    • This often results in:

      • Interior lights flashing

      • Display flashing

      • Constant chiming

      • Refrigerator otherwise may still cool normally

    • The easiest test is to unplug the refrigerator, then disconnect one LED module at a time (starting with the freezer and fresh food ceiling modules) and restore power after each one. If the flashing stops after disconnecting a particular module, that LED module is defective.

  2. Faulty LED power supply/control board

    • If disconnecting the LED modules does not change anything, the LED driver/power supply or the main control board may not be providing stable DC voltage.

  3. Loose or damaged wiring harness

    • Inspect connectors at the main control board, user interface, and each LED module for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.

  4. Main electronic control board

    • If the LED circuit checks good and the wiring is intact, the main control board becomes the most likely cause.

Quick troubleshooting steps

  1. Perform a hard reset by unplugging the refrigerator (or turning the breaker off) for 10 minutes, then restore power.

  2. Determine whether the refrigerator is still cooling normally.

  3. Disconnect the LED modules one at a time and power the refrigerator back on after each one.

  4. Inspect all harness connections at the LED modules and the main control board.

  5. If the symptom remains with all LED modules disconnected, test the DC output from the LED driver/main control (refer to the wiring diagram for the specified voltage). If the voltage is unstable or cycling, replace the failed control board.

A couple of questions that will help narrow it down:

  • Is the refrigerator and freezer still cooling properly while this is happening?

  • Does the flashing begin immediately after plugging the refrigerator in, or does it take a few minutes?

  • Are all of the interior lights flashing, or just one section (fresh food, freezer, or pantry)?

  • Has any LED light module or control board been replaced recently?

Those answers will help determine whether you’re dealing with a failed LED module or a control board issue.
