Whirlpool Quiet Partner 1 has no electricity

I have owned a Whirlpool Quiet Partner 1 dishwasher that I have been very happy with until a week ago when it stopped working. The dishwasher seemed to have no power to it. I checked the fuse box and a fuse had not been blown. So I tried pulling out the dishwasher which caused it to spark and smoke. After more investigation I found the two electrical connections, from main source of power to dishwasher, had come apart after being cut by a piece of metal on the dishwasher. Reconnection did not bring the power back. No reset switch that I could see. So can you please tell me what part I need to replace to get it working again?

Thank you,
Mrs. Fixit

Could be the bi-metal (fuse) has blown. Item 6 in the “Control panel parts” section.

Check it with a meter.

I did check the power near the bottom behind the lower panel and to the right while it was connected to the main power source. Their was no juice on the part of the dishwasher. Are you saying I should use a volt meter inside the panel on the actual Bi-metal part while it is attached to the main power source?

No.
Remove it and check it for resistance, should be 0 ohms.
