Whirlpool microwave MH1170XSS2 - bottom 3 buttons on control panel don't work. All others work

Main Symptom: bottom 3 buttons on control panel stopped working (light/fan/turntable)
What happens & when: buttons stopped working permanently last week. press buttons, no beep sound or functionality. Every other button on control panel works

Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried: cycled power by unplugging for 10 minutes, reseating ribbon cable between button membrane and control panel circuit board

as an added note, the microwave operates 100% in all functionality other than these 3 specific buttons. The exhaust fan still works when cooking as does the turntable. The light was originally stuck in the on position when these 3 buttons stopped working but is now permanently off after I cycled power.
