Check the drive block to make sure that it is not damaged. The drive block will be under the inner tub.

Thanks for the quick reply. It appears that the part you’re referring to is this:

Mine looks fine. I had already removed it in disassembling the unit and it came off without issue and has no breaks or stripped threads.

Thanks though.

Yes, that would be the part. Normally when a washer is getting off balance where the tub is hitting the outside, the pads would be the issue but the block could also cause this. If the block is ok then I would suggest trying the pads. There are upper and lower pads that could be faulty and would recommend replacing all of them.

It doesn’t seem to be so much off balance. I had removed all of the clothes and with only water in the tub, it still banged while spinning.

I was unaware that it has upper and lower pads. I only can see lower pads. This is what they look like; some wear, but smooth and unbroken:

Based just on that photo, they do look worn. I would recommend replacing the pads upper and lower. If you look up from where that pad is, you will see the upper pads.

Thanks, I’ll see if I can find those upper pads later tonight.

I am still not seeing any upper suspension pads. Here are the three surfaces that mate with the lower stabilizer pads. Are they somewhere else?

@Ed_C_APP_Team Can you help me determine if I am looking in the correct place for those upper suspension pads, or if my washing machine doesn’t have them?

Thank you!

Here is a photo of where the pads are located.

Thank you. Although mine look good, but I will go follow your recommendation and replace them if you say I should. I think I’ll also replace the Washer Centerpost Gasket while I have it apart. Please let me know your thoughts on these.

Are there any other parts that deep into the unit that I should consider replacing?

I’m following up to see what your thoughts are on those pictures I uploaded. Do those upper pads look like they need to be replaced? Do you recommend anything else besides the Washer Centerpost Gasket?

Thank you.

The upper pads do look good and you should definitely replace the lower pads. As for replacing the centerpost seal, you can do that but usually do not need to unless there is a leak.

I have replaced the upper and lower pads and I started the spin cycle for 10-20 seconds 3 or 4 times. The sound seemed to be more like a clunking than a loud banging this time When I started the spin the last time, it would not spin. I can just hear it humming, as if the motor wants to spin, but it won’t turn the drum.
