Hello, I noticed that our Whirlpool LSW9750PW3 washing machine appears to be leaking oil on the floor underneath the washer. Also, when the wash is done, the clothes or towels are still wet enough that I can wring some water out of them. We usually have to put it on “Hi Spin” again to dry them more before putting them in the dryer. Otherwise everything else seems to work ok.
It seems like we have multiple problems. Is it worth repairing this unit or are we better off upgrading to a more efficient machine?
It depends on how much oil you’re seeing. A teaspoon or two, no big deal. A cup would be bad.
Most oil leaks on this design of washer are usually from the shaft seal behind the coupler. It can be replaced, but if its a pretty small leak, it should be OK.
The problem with spinning is probably the clutch. Its a little hard to change, but the part is cheap enough. Watch the video to see what is involved.
Thanks ThatGuy. I would say there was a tablespoon or so of oil. Any way to repair the transmission with new seals and oil? I didn’t see where to buy the replacement seal. Also, what kind of oil should I refill with if it is low? Thanks!
