Whirlpool ice maker does not make ice

Nat, Is the ‘bail arm’ also called a ‘pivot arm’? There is no picture of this when I look for parts.

Dawn

No, sorry didn’t actually look at your model before posting. your system has a laser type sensor not a bail arm.

Hope to jump in have a similar problem. model ED5SHAXNQ01

Switched the wires to the valves and got water in the im, does that mean the valve is good and im is bad? The thing that rotates and dumps the ice out seems to work.

thanks

Darren,
if the part works that dumps the ice then it’s probably your thermostat in the ice maker. your valve seems good!
Nat

Sorry I’ve been gone for a few days and just saw your response, thanks for the feedback. So if its the thermostat can I replace that only? Its a Whirlpool with the ice container auger in the door.

Darren,
Yes, part # AP3135377, you can test with an ohm meter first. Are your emitter lights flashing? If not they could also be the problem (part# AP3137510)

Nat

i am having the same problem. i have the whirlpool side by side. i am not sure of half of the stuff you are talking about here…like emitter lights. all i know is i have water to the door but i am not getting ice made. i need help. thanks…

Keaton,

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Gene.

I have a Whirlpool model ED5LHAXMT10. I get water from the door but the ice maker is empty. Can it be that the water line is frozen? Are there two water lines? 1 for water dispenser (working) AND 1 for the ice maker (not working)?

It’s possible that the line into the icemaker is frozen or one side of the valve is out, try switching the leads on the valve and pressing the dispenser to see if you get water in the ice maker. If you do then the line isn’t frozen. And we can direct you to a different test.

Nat

Can you tell me how to do this?

This should help http://www.applianceaid.com/adaptive_defrost.html

Everytime our frigidaire stops making ice it’s because I turned the temp below 6 or 7. Turn the temp up. With in minutes ours makes ice again. It’s worth the try!

You may want to measure the temperature in the freezer.

Hi- I have a Kenmore side by side, model number 106.56566400

The ice maker is not filling with water. I checked the fill tube and it is not frozen. I reversed the pump connectors and get water into the ice maker when I press the water switch.

What should I check next? My ice maker model number is 626663

Thanks for your help. This site has already helped me with all troubleshooting steps up until now. A great help!

Make sure the ice maker “on-off” switch on the right side is in “on” position. Open the freezer door, press in the emitter flapper door (on the left side) to unblock the optics beam and view the diagnostics “status” LED on the right side.

Post the results.

Gene.

Solid red light when flap is pushed in.

When not pushed in and door is open, two blinks, then pause, then two blinks

Sounds like the problem is a bad ice maker.

my 4.5 year old Kenmore mdl 106.55603400 stopped making ice 3 days ago and made one round of ice today. So 1 tray in 4 days. Replaced the PUR filter even though it was getting water in door (and continues to get water in door just fine). I’m guessing the line isn’t frozen because it filled this morning, but as stated, IM was dry for 3 days. Emitter light in freezer is blink-blink-pause-blink-blink-pause constantly, no matter if you hold the lever down on the left. Paddles in IM have been in the up position most all day and it has yet to dump today. Would really, really appreciate some wisdom. Of course this happens < 6 months out of warranty! Max temperature setting for freezer is +5, recommended setting is 0, I have it set at 1 deg. Thanks so much for your wisdom. This is a great site!

Looks like the problem is a bad optics.
