Whirlpool DU940 fails to run properly

The DW began acting up last night. Pushed the ‘normal’ button and it would start up then shut down quickly. Both the ‘normal’ and ‘wash’ lights were flashing. I reset power at the circuit breaker, and tried again and it worked fine until about halfway thru the rinse cycle. At this point the ‘normal’ and ‘rinse’ lights were flashing.

Cycled the breaker but still would not restart. Waiting with the door open for about an hour then closed the door and it continued on with the rinse cycle and finished the load properly.

Unit is just under 10 years old. So it may be the end of its useful life. Any way to quickly troubleshoot? Any suggestions appreciated.

Wayne,

The model number you posted is incorrect. Verify and repost it please. Post the color of the control panel too.

Okay, how about DU940PWKQ0? It is white.

Most likely the problem is a stock key(s) on the key pad. The solution is to replace the console. The manufacturer discontinued white consoles, so the only black console is still available and it is expensive.
