Whirlpool dryer WED6200SW1 door won't close as dryer door strike came off

Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: WED6200SW1
Main Symptom: Dryer door strike has fallen off from the dryer
What happens & when: Dryer door won’t close as door strike has fallen off. Note: for my dryer, the strike is ONLY the pointed metal strike, not the strike that has a latch that gets screwed in. I don’t know what to do and cannot disassemble the dryer. Do I use adhesive? I cannot find a video for my specific door strike replacement.

Hi terpbuzz123240, have you tried replacing the latch catch that the strike goes into? The latch catch is WPW10111905, and the strike is W10295405.

Yes I have a new catch too but the problem is my strike has completely fallen off and isn’t like the picture you sent in your other reply. The strike is just a pointed metal bit and I don’t know how to replace it when it’s just this. Do I just use an adhesive?

Those doors are usually interchangeable. Have you checked the other side of the frame to see if you could use the one I sent you on that side?

Thanks I’ll check tonight. If not, do you have any recommendations because my strike doesn’t get screwed in similar to the video you shared.

Can you send a picture of the broken part? I’m not sure if adhesive would work as a long-term fix, but I’ll do my best to help.

So the piece in my hand screws into that hole but the inside of the hole is stripped is the problem. I can swap the door to the other side too

In this situation, we have three options:

  1. You can flip the door.

  2. You can use self-tapping screws to create the holes you need, which would allow you to use the kit I sent to modify that opening.

  3. You can completely replace the front panel.
