Hi, I have a Whirlpool dishwasher model GU2500XTPB3 with a number of problems.
1. The machine does not clean dishes well, leaves a visible film of residue seen on glass and detectable upon touch on all other dishes.
2. The heat element appears to be burning the plastic shell under it, which has resulted now with holes.
3. The rubber door gasket needs replacement, it shows unusually high degree of wear.
It appears that the cycles are not programmed properly; the temperature is too high, potentially during the drying phase, or heating water while level is too low.
I cleaned the waste grinner and the filters in the unit a number of times, so water flows with no obstacles. I also dismounted and inspected the pump and found no issues there.
Questions:
1. Can this set of symptoms be caused by the control module? Can it be adjusted in any way or must be replaced?
2. What material (epoxy?) should I use to patch the holes and ensure that the patch does not cause health hazard (some epoxy material may contain poisonous elements).
This has been an issue since one year of use of the machine. We had Kitchen Aid and Bosch machines before, no such problems. Is it bad luck or the industry’s drive to improve ‘productivity’ ignoring quality?
Thank you
