Whirlpool Dishwasher DU915PWPS2 doesn't drain

Our dishwasher has not drained properly for awhile now. We’ve been under the impression that this issue doesn’t resolve easily so we’ve just been living with our situation. The dishwasher will run through the entire cycle leaving everything clean and generally dry. However, after we unload the dishwasher, we always have to run the drain function two or three times to get all of the water out of the tub. We basically figured that as soon as we can, we should just replace it and have been saving to do just that. But now, after the wonderful success I had on this forum with diagnosing and repairing our oven, I am curious to see what we can find out about diagnosing and repairing our dishwasher.

In the past, we have pulled off the air vent to ensure it was clear. It was.

We have completely disassembled the dishwasher pump looking for a clog or anything that might be stuck and it was clear.

We have removed the drain line looking for a clog and to ensure it was not kinked. It was clear and not kinked.

And where we really got into our inexperience was under the dishwasher looking at the drain pump and while it looked fine, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

Is this something that is easily and affordably fixed? I’d be happy to give any information needed and we are ready and willing to try anything.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. This is a fantastic website and we are recommending it to everyone after the wonderful help we got with our oven.

My whirlpool dish washer is not draining, it hasn’t since we bought it less then a year ago. What could be the problem?
